In Global Selling, Mercado Libre pays you every 2 weeks, in US dollars, by transfer to your US bank account or to Payoneer, as long as the total reaches USD 500. Each payment covers the sales that were delivered to the buyer at least 2 days earlier and have no open claim. You receive the full net amount: what you paid for the product plus your profit.
How is your profit calculated on Mercado Libre International?
You decide how much you want to earn. In Global Selling, you tell Mercado Libre how much you want to receive for each sale, which is the net. Mercado Libre adds its fee, shipping and taxes on top, and that becomes the price the buyer sees.
CBT Labs, the platform from the Automeli group, calculates that net from your margin: it takes your cost (the product on Amazon and, if you set it up, the "Logistics per item" fee) and adds the percentage you want to earn. You adjust it in Settings, on the Pricing tab, by turning on "Use margins". You can set one margin for all countries or one per country.
An example:
| Item | Amount |
|---|---|
| Product price on Amazon | USD 20.00 |
| Logistics per item (your warehouse) | USD 3.00 |
| Your cost | USD 23.00 |
| Your margin (25%) | USD 5.75 |
| What Mercado Libre pays you | USD 28.75 |
These are sample values. You don't subtract the fee and taxes from the net yourself: Mercado Libre adds them to the price the buyer pays.
When does Mercado Libre pay sellers?
According to the official Global Selling help:
- Frequency: an international transfer in US dollars every 2 weeks, to the bank account or Payoneer account you set up.
- What it includes: all sales delivered to the buyer 2 or more days before the transfer is generated.
- Minimum: USD 500. If your total is lower, the payment waits until you reach it.
- Exceptions: Mercado Libre doesn't pay a sale that has a refund or an open claim until it is resolved.
- Report: each transfer comes with a report listing the transactions it includes, in the payment reports section.
Do you withdraw only the profit, or your investment too?
You withdraw both. Mercado Libre transfers the full net: in the example, of the USD 28.75, USD 23 is what you paid and USD 5.75 is your profit.
Because you buy the product on Amazon after you've already sold it, you pay first and get your money back weeks later. That's why your business needs capital or a card limit to cover those purchases. When a transfer arrives, set aside the money for your next purchases first: what's left is your profit.
What happens if a buyer opens a claim?
Mercado Libre holds the money for that sale until the claim is resolved, and leaves it out of your transfer in the meantime. Shipping on time and answering questions quickly reduce claims. See how in how to ship a product sold on Mercado Libre International.
What account do you need to get paid?
A US bank account in your company's name, or a Payoneer account. You set them up in your Mercado Libre selling preferences when you open your account. If you don't have a US company yet, start by forming your LLC.
