Frequently asked questions
How CBT Labs works, what it does with your catalog and what to expect once your listings are live in five countries.
The basics
What is CBT Labs?
A tool for cross-border sellers on Mercado Libre. You choose products, and CBT Labs writes the listing for each market, calculates the price, publishes it and keeps stock and prices in sync from then on.
The idea is that going from one country to five stops being a project and becomes a checkbox.
Which countries can I sell in?
Mexico, Argentina, Brazil, Chile and Colombia, through the Mercado Libre Global Selling (CBT) program.
You pick which of the five to enable, and you can add or remove markets later without redoing your catalog.
What do I need to get started?
A Mercado Libre seller account enabled for Global Selling, and the products you want to sell.
You do not need developers, an integration, or a separate account per country.
How long does it take to go live?
Connecting your account takes a couple of minutes. From there, publishing a batch of products is a matter of minutes, not days.
How long Mercado Libre takes to show each listing is up to Mercado Libre, and it varies by country and category.
Connecting Mercado Libre
How do I connect my account?
Through the official Mercado Libre authorization screen. You sign in on their site, approve the permissions, and come back to the app already connected.
We never see or store your Mercado Libre password.
What is “your own application” and when do I need it?
Your first listings run through the shared CBT Labs application, so you can start without any setup.
Once that quota is used, you create your own application in the Mercado Libre DevCenter and paste its credentials into the app. It takes a few minutes, the app walks you through it, and from then on your publishing volume depends only on your own limits.
Can I try it without publishing for real?
Yes. Test mode publishes against a Mercado Libre test account so you can see exactly how the listing turns out before it reaches real buyers.
Two things to know: a test publication consumes one credit, just like a real one, and once you are happy with the result, promoting it republishes the product as a real listing.
What happens if I disconnect?
Publishing and synchronization stop, and we revoke the access tokens.
Listings that are already live stay live: they are yours and they live on Mercado Libre. What stops is CBT Labs updating them.
Publishing
How do I choose which products to publish?
Three ways, depending on how much you already know what you want:
Amazon best sellers, when you want ideas: we show products that sell well and have few sellers in the destination market. By codes (ASIN), when you already have your list: paste the codes or the Amazon URLs and we take it from there. Bulk, when you want to explore: search Amazon and pick from the results.
Where does the product information come from?
From the Amazon catalog, using the product's ASIN: title, description, attributes, images and dimensions.
You can paste plain codes, full Amazon URLs, or a mixed list separated by spaces, commas or line breaks. We extract the codes and drop duplicates.
Who writes the titles and descriptions?
They are generated automatically and adapted to each market, including translation into Portuguese for Brazil.
Treat them as a solid first draft, not a finished text. Review what goes out: the accuracy of the listing and its compliance with the rules of each country are on you as the seller.
Classic or Premium?
You choose the listing type before publishing. Classic is the default.
One exception worth knowing: in Argentina, Premium implies seller-funded installments, which Global Selling does not offer. If you pick Premium with Argentina selected, the listing is published as Classic there. The app warns you before you publish.
Why can a product not be published?
The most common reasons are a brand on your blacklist, a category restricted in the destination country, or missing data Mercado Libre requires for that category.
The app tells you which product failed and why, and the rest of the batch continues as usual.
Prices and currencies
What currency do I set the price in?
In US dollars, for all five countries. That is how Global Selling works: the buyer sees the price in their local currency, and Mercado Libre handles the conversion on their side.
So you do not maintain five price lists, and you are not exposed to five exchange rates by hand.
How is the suggested price calculated?
From the source cost of the product plus the settings you save: the margin you want per country, the taxes that apply to you and your logistics cost per item.
You can set a different margin per country, and price ranges within each one, so a $20 product and a $400 product do not carry the same percentage.
Can I see what I would keep before publishing?
Yes, that is what the net calculator is for. Enter an ASIN or type the cost by hand and it shows you, country by country, the resulting price and what would be left for you with the settings you already have saved.
Stock and synchronization
How often does it sync?
Automatic synchronization runs every 6, 12 or 24 hours, whichever you choose, and reviews your catalog to apply the changes without you doing anything.
You can also trigger it by hand whenever you want, and see in the history what it changed on each pass.
Why does the app show something different from Mercado Libre?
Because synchronization is periodic, not instantaneous. If you change something on Mercado Libre directly, the app shows the previous state until the next pass.
That lag is expected. If you need the current state right away, run a manual sync.
What happens if a product runs out of stock?
The listings for that product get paused, in every country, so you do not sell what you cannot ship.
When stock comes back, they are reactivated on the next pass.
Sales
Can I see my sales and my profit?
Yes. The Sales screen brings in your Mercado Libre orders with their status, amount, currency and marketplace fee, and shows you the margin per sale once you enter the cost.
Shipping cost is read from Mercado Libre itself, not estimated: it is what the platform actually charges you for that shipment.
Who collects the money from my sales?
Mercado Libre, under the rules of the Global Selling program. CBT Labs does not take part in collection and does not touch the money from your sales.
What we do is read what you have already been paid, so the numbers you see are real and not an estimate.
Credits, plans and account
What is the difference between credits and a plan?
Credits are spent when you publish: one product published, one credit less.
The plan covers keeping what is already published alive — synchronization, price and stock updates, automatic pausing. Two separate things, so publishing a lot one month does not raise the cost of maintaining what you already have.
What do I get for free?
Your first 10 products, with no credit card. It is enough to connect your account, publish, see the listings live and decide from there.
How do I pay, and can I cancel?
Payment goes through Stripe. You can cancel whenever you want: cancellation takes effect at the end of the period you already paid for, and there is no automatic renewal after that.
CBT Labs does not store your card number — Stripe handles the payment data.
Can I delete my account?
Yes, from your profile, without asking anyone. Deleting removes your access, wipes your personal data and revokes your Mercado Libre tokens.
Your listings on Mercado Libre are not affected: they are yours and they stay on the platform.
What do you do with my data?
We use it to run the Service and nothing else. We do not sell it, we do not share your catalog with other sellers and we do not use your marketplace data to build contact lists.
The detail — what we collect, who processes it and what rights you have — is in the Privacy Policy.
